A propagation check is a cache comparison.

DNS does not move across the internet as one synchronized event. Recursive resolvers cache answers for a period defined by TTL, and different observations may change at different times.

Start with cache age

A lower remaining TTL can explain why one resolver is closer to refreshing an older answer.

Compare full answer sets

Multiple A, AAAA, MX or TXT values can be valid. Agreement is based on complete returned values.

Trust declared locations

A probe location describes where the query ran. It does not claim that an anycast resolver has a fixed country.
